Mountain View lies about 30-minutes from San Francisco. Last Thursday, during a beautiful, California summer’s day, I had lunch with Milton Chen, the CEO of Vsee Lab Inc, Yuen-lin and most of the team from this Silicon Valley start-up.

Vsee Lab is the company responsible for providing that wonderful experience on the last World Refugee Day – transmitting live footage from several refugee camps, to viewers all over the world.

This project, led by Greg Miller from UNHCR enabled people from every corner of the globe to experience what it is really like to be a refugee, how they live, how they think. And, more importantly, the project allowed refugees themselves to transmit the reality of their existence to the entire world.

In this interview, Yuen-lin tells us about behind the scenes at Refugee Day. In the next post, we will be given some great ideas about how to use videoconferencing in the social sector. Prepare yourselves!
