Utopia – 50% discount !!

As I walked along the streets of Amsterdam a few days ago, I discovered some school notebooks in a shop window with a 50% Off sign. There wasn’t anything too unusual about this except for the fact that the notebooks had a printed picture of Che Guevara on their front covers.
I carried on walking, but the scene got me thinking about the social organizations that I work for and the kinds of utopia they pursue – Ideals which I share.
Perhaps the innocent discount offer in a shop window goes some way to revealing just how unattractive these kinds of utopias are for society today. So much so, that they have to be put on sale.
I continued walking into the Dam, and a wave of questions began to flood into my head. Do utopias no longer exist or are the people that lead the quest for them no longer able to convert them into a collective dream? Revolutions and their related disruptions are out of fashion. What is it that makes utopias less attractive than in previous decades? And what is the role of NGOs in this movement?> I’d be really interested in finding out what you all think… You can do it , just leaving a comment at this post ( Take the advantage comments are 20 % off !! )
