The greatest job in the world
We’d like to share with you one of the most innovative campaigns, in our opinion (!) of 2009.
“The greatest job in the world” was a campaign run by Australia’s tourist board this year to look for a caretaker for a tropical Australian island for six months.
The successful candidate would be paid a $111,000 salary and would be responsible for swimming, exploring and relaxing on Hamilton Island in the Great Barrier Reef, while writing a blog to promote the area.
The job, which was part of an AU$ 1.7 million campaign to publicise the charms of north-eastern Queensland attracted 35,000 applicants and generated around AU$ 110 million of free publicity for the region!
The applicants had to submit a short, 60-second video of themselves explaining why they were the best man (or woman) for the job.
Check out the winning video, from 34-year old Ben, a charity worker from Petersfield, UK!
