IKEA makes the most of Facebook in free viral campaign!

A recent IKEA campaign has proven to be a great example of how Facebook can be utilized to run massively successful, and viral campaigns.
In order to promote a new store in Malmo, Sweden, the marketing agency Forsman and Bodenfors, created a Facebook profile for the store manager, Gordon Gustavsson.
They then uploaded pictures of IKEA furniture from the new store into his album and began to spead the word that the first person to tag their name on a piece of furniture, could take that item home from the store…for free!
The brilliance of this campaign lies in the fact that as Facebook users started tagging their names to the photos, all of their friends were alerted to the campaign so started tagging their own names, and so on and so forth.
In the meantime, IKEA received a massive amount of publicity, thousands and thousands of people looked at its furniture photos…and all for free!
