Government urges Tweeting!

As if Tweets from the Queen were not enough to convince organizations to start using social networking tools, a 20-page internal document recently published by the British government urges all government departments to “Tweet” on “issues of relevance and upcoming events”.
In a report published by the BBC, around 65% of all homes in the UK are connected to the internet and the government website receives over 15 million visits per month.
According to a government spokesperson, “With more and more citizens using the internet it’s important that, as part of its communications approach, the government develops its capability to use digital channels effectively and that includes social media tools such as Twitter.”
