I recently stumbled accross some works of art by Israeli artist,Daniel Rozin.
Rozin creates interactive installations and sculptures that change and respond to the presence of the viewer. In some cases the viewer becomes the art itself, and in other cases the viewer is invited to help create the work.
This is truly a wonderful example of the possibilities that can be obtained by involving the public in a project or even making them the primary focus!
Check out a video of one of his installations above…
No money involve, just a free blog, a home made video , a brilliant idea and nothing to lose. This is the big challenge at the NGOs level :   Risk, risk , risk …
To the delight of anyone who has ever spent a lot of time uploading their video to You Tube and then painstakingly going through it all to add the captions, the new automatic captions system is about to make things a lot easier!
The new system combines Google’s automatic speech recognition with the You Tube caption system to create automatic captions.
You Tube also plans to announce a new automatic timing feature which will allow users to upload a caption manually whenever someone starts speaking in the video.
The team aims to keep improving the service and would really appreciate any feedback you might have on the new caption software. To send feedback click here.
Check out the second installment of this video filmed during my time in San Francisco this year.
In it, Yuen Li from Vsee Labs, discusses the possibilities that video-conferencing provides – including connecting donors to the people they are assisting, in real time!
Donors are able to see exactly where their donations are going and beneficiaries are able to see that they are supported by people from all over the world.
Li believes that videoconferencing allows people to become friends and, consequently, develop a greater desire to take care of each other, something that the social sector certainly promotes!
Travelling to Brazil always makes me happy. With music flowing into every corner, a welcoming people and the Afro-american fusion (Brazil is the country with the biggest Afro influence outside of Africa, with over 50% of the population of African descent), life is more alive in Brazil! (The only real issue is the football… but we won’t discuss that now!)
My colleague, Daniel Yoffe, and I, gave the closing plenary for the first day of the AFP Hemispheric Conference, which focused on Leadership and Innovation, to around 300 participants, mostly from Brazil and some from other Latin American countries. Once again, we confirmed my theory that when one is able to communicate his point in a fun way, with solid content and plenty of participation, the message has a far greater impact.
During our presentation, we discussed various topics; Strategic thinking, digital leadership, risk…all mixed in with caipirinha recipes, films and the sound of cell phones going off in the room!
On the second day, I gave two workshops on Innophoria, which aimed to share a little of what goes on in our consultancy – where creativity and innovation are integrated into strategy and public mobilization. And so my time in San Pablo, a city described by the singer Caetano Veloso as an “entire world in itself”, came to an end!
Muito Obrigado Brazil!
