Government urges Tweeting!
Tuesday, July 28th, 2009
As if Tweets from the Queen were not enough to convince organizations to start using social networking tools, a 20-page internal document recently published by the British government urges all government departments to “Tweet” on “issues of relevance and upcoming events”.
In a report published by the BBC, around 65% of all homes in the UK are connected to the internet and the government website receives over 15 million visits per month.
According to a government spokesperson, “With more and more citizens using the internet it’s important that, as part of its communications approach, the government develops its capability to use digital channels effectively and that includes social media tools such as Twitter.”
SMS provider waives charges to third sector
Monday, July 20th, 2009
A recent article published in Third Sector magazine praises UK company, Win, for being the first text donation company to wave its commission on SMS donations sent to charitable organizations.
This is a massive step forward for SMS fundraising as around 30% of donations sent via text message is taken in charges by third-party service providers and mobile networks.
According to the firm’s chief executive, Graham Rivers, “Charities need to get the full amount without the middlemen taking a cut. We would like industry players, aggregators and mobile operators to join us and help this become a reality.”
Campaigners against the exorbitant text message fees are now expecting other SMS providers to follow suit so that SMS fundraising can finally take off within the third sector…
HRH Twitter!
Monday, July 13th, 2009
When one of the world’s oldest and most traditional monarchies jumps on the social networking bandwagon, you know it’s time to get with the times!
A recent report from the BBC announced that Buckingham Palace’s Twitter account has just gone live following weeks of testing.
@BritishMonarchy
According to a royal spokesperson, the family turned to Twitter in an attempt to spread news about royal events and, hopefully, increase the popularity of this British institution.
The first royal tweets have already been sent (!) and include a link to a YouTube video of Prince William (I’m not kidding!) and some recent photos of the Queen herself.

Co creation with webcams
Wednesday, July 8th, 2009This music video was shot for Sour’s ‘Hibi no Neiro’ (Tone of everyday) from their first mini album ‘Water Flavor EP’. The cast were selected from the actual Sour fan base, from many countries around the world. Each person and scene was filmed purely via webcam.
It is great example of public engagement for the social sector ! Inspiration is also part of our work . How much time do you take for this task weekly ?
