With Nike and UNPD at the Sport for Social Change Network Workshop in Rio , Brazil.
Thursday, August 30th, 2007Nike and the UNPD are starting a global initiative supporting the development of NGO trhough “Sport for Social Change Network “ .
I’ve been presenting new media workshops in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil representing the E-philanthropy Foundation.
In two days I’ve heard great examples of creative work. I would like to remark “Rede Jovem†a youth organization leading by Alice Gismonti . This program encourages Brazilian teenagers in the use of technology and new media. They promote social activism among low-income young people from Brazil , bridging in this way the digital gap.
The results are very impressive they have 56 digital centers for youth in 9 States in Brazil , in 2006 they had provided 340 .000 services , having 15.000 activated e-mails accounts and more than 4.000 blogs !
Even more cool and smart project is “0800 rede joven†–the winner award project from contest develop by Oi foundation a mobile company in Brazil.
It’s good case of integration web and mobile , 500 young people that joined at rede joven site are receiving a “Torpedo Celular†( In Brazil called the SMS ,with this groovy name ) every day with job and courses opportunities. . You don’t need to be a big organization to innovate!!!
You can see more visiting www.redejovem.org.br
Coming back to this alliance between a company like Nike and the social sector , I hope that Nike stick a litle bit of their creativity and informality in the way to engage supporters to the social market. Be inspired by the great Dirty Sanchez !
